Case Study – Scheld Aircraft

OVERVIEW:
When Rhein Neckar Air sought to disinfect one of the vessels in their fleet, a passenger Dornier 328, they reached out to Scheld Aviation Service – a provider of SteraMist® disinfection. This would ensure a short turnaround time to help the plane resume scheduled flights, allowing both staff and passengers to return to a freshly disinfected environment.

SCOPE OF WORK:

TREATED AREA: Dornier 328 Interior

PRODUCT USED: Surface Unit

STERAMIST® TECHNICIANS: 2

MEETING THE NEED:
The primary areas to be treated on the plane include the cockpit, cabin, galley, and restroom, including the deployable steps and handrails on the exterior of the craft. To ensure complete and even treatment, six test strips were used.

THE RESULT:
Using only an hour, one quarter gallon of BITTM Solution, and two on-site technicians, Scheld was able to successfully disinfect the aircraft. Smear tests were performed to validate results, with no bacteria shown after disinfection.
