A case study with Sticky Saguaro

With the cannabis industry facing rising popularity and stricter federal sanitation standards, Sticky Saguaro – a cannabis dispensary in Chandler, AZ – looked to take steps to streamline its already-exhaustive cleaning process. In order to comprehensively disinfect every surface to maximize product quality and patient health, they needed a dependable solution that could deliver every possible cleaning advantage without compromise. Their search ultimately led them to SteraMist ionized Hydrogen Peroxide (iHP).

Streamlining Cannabis Sterilization

Until recently, their cleaning team (consisting of only four staff members) had to dedicate hours to properly disinfect each exposed surface manually. The spaces on their routine sterilization schedule include laboratories, agricultural grow rooms, multi-level rolling racks, and storage areas, all vastly ranging in size, function, equipment, and cleaning prerequisites. Furthermore, in line with the growing popularity of modular manufacturing, their primary facility is a Pre-Engineered Metal Building (PEMB). As a result, much of the facility’s metal framework is exposed within the interior, making it difficult for staff to direct time and energy to wipe down every potentially compromising surface.

To address these concerns and expedite their cannabis sterilization process, Sticky Saguaro purchased a SteraMist Environment System – a comprehensive decontamination system that fogs environments with iHP mist. The Environment System and three connected applicators would simply need to be placed within a space and remotely activated to begin a disinfection cycle, filling the entire room with dry mist that reaches every exposed and hard-to-reach surface.

As the team fogged each room, they discovered that a single cycle was sufficient each time, regardless of the space or sensitive surfaces inside. When following each cycle with containment and hygiene checks, results consistently met expectations. SteraMist ultimately brought hours and days of manual wiping down to minutes of fogging, with a single employee able to easily use the Environment System. Staff no longer needed to waste valuable time on manual labor, reach dangerous spaces, or risk damaging equipment or structural surfaces with corrosive disinfectants.
