Case Study – The Villas

OVERVIEW:
When the pandemic struck early last year, all nursing communities, like the Villas Senior Care, in Sherman, Illinois, faced new challenges to navigate like never before. The Villas experienced a positive resident admission, resulting in multiple infected patients, halted admissions, and an overall census of 60% their original capacity. To combat this new development, The Villas purchased a SteraMist Surface Unit and began to advertise the new SteraMist disinfection protocols with billboards and commercials.

MEETING THE NEED:
Maintenance staff members regularly disinfected with SteraMist, giving special attention to high-touch and high-traffic areas such as handrails, doorknobs, buttons, medical assessment tools, and nursing stations. Two buildings are consistently treated in total – a long-term care facility and an assisted living facility – measuring up to a combined treatment area of nearly 100,000ft².

THE RESULT:
After treating the affected areas and ensuring preventative disinfection throughout the entire facility, The Villas restored their patient population back to levels previously seen before the pandemic, standing out as a leader in nursing care within the area. Expressing
confidence in SteraMist’s efficacy against SARS-CoV-2 Coronavirus variants, Ebola, C. diff, and C. auris, the Villas’ next protocol project will include increasing the budget for PPE, hygiene, and manpower.

“NOT ONLY IS STERAMIST EFFECTIVE AGAINST COVID-19 AND OTHER HARMFUL PATHOGENS, BUT IT IS EFFECTIVE IN PROVIDING PEACE OF MIND TO THE VILLAS COMMUNITY TO INCLUDE PATIENTFAMILY MEMBERS BEYOND OUR 50-ACRE CAMPUS!”
